Burke Village Academy policy emphasizes creating a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the well-being and development of each child while fostering open communication with parents.
1. Staff
All burke village Academy teachers must hold valid early childhood educator and Infant toddler educator certificate. First Aid, food safety are also necessary for working at our center.
2. Arrival and Departures:
· Arrival: All parents need to sign in each day. Before leave, parents please let the teacher know who will pick him/her up at the end of the day. If parent knows that they will be having someone else pick up their child they are requested to inform the center who that person will be, when the person come to center need to show the photo ID to teachers.
· Departure: we ask that you be punctual when picking up your child. The parent is required to sign their name on the daily attendance sheet.
· Late Departures: $5.00 fine within the first 5 minutes after the end of class and $1 fine for additional minute. Parents are to pay all the late fees directly to the staff. The office will collect the late fee after several reminders.
-Snow days: On days when it is heavy snow, parents should check the SD43 website, City TV on channel 13, or listen to the radio (News 1130 AM) for school closure. The announcement will also be posted on the school’s website. Parent’s can also call Manager’s cell phone at: 778-723-5650. If SD43 is closed due to snow. Burke Village Academy will be closed as well. If students need to be dismissed early due to snow, an email will be sent out and teachers will contact parents.
3. Allergies
Please ensure that the center is informed of any allergies your child may have, as this could lead to serious problems if we are unaware and you child suffers an allergic reaction. We will require parent complete an Allergies medical form, so staff can follows the treatment plan as stated in the form.
4. Repayment Agreement Policy
Burke Village Academy tuition fees are payable in advance and are due on the first day of each month. For the convenience of the center and parents/guardians, leaving post-dated cheques for up to 6 months is acceptable.
Other Fees:
● A childcare deposit fee ($250 registration fee and one month’s tuition fee as deposit) for any future damage, late pickup, or other circumstances. If no such event occurs when the child is leaving the program, the one month’s tuition fee will be returned on the last day of school. The $250 registration fee is non-refundable.
● Late tuition payment fees: failure of timely tuition payment will result in a $5 fine each day until tuition is paid. This fee will be deducted from the one month tuition fee deposit. Reminders regarding tuition payments will be given to parents in advance.
● Late pickup fees: a late pick-up fee of $1.00 per minute will incur 10 minutes after closing time.
● Monthly tuition will not be refundable if a withdrawal notice has not been given at least two month in advance.
· The first month at Burke Village Academy will be a trial period for both parties. Burke Village Academy or the Parent /Guardian may withdraw the child during the trial period withdrawal notice. The monthly fee will remain non-refundable regardless of when the child is withdrawn.
● Sick days, holidays, daycare closures (including but not limited to statutory holidays, emergency closures, etc.), winter break (from Christmas eve till new years day),summer break(end of July) will not influence monthly tuition fees.
5. illness Policy:
For the health of the other children and childcare provider, please keep your child home if he/she exhibits the following symptoms:
● Fever 100°F or 37.5°C or higher cold, runny nose, teary eyes, coughing or sore throat
● Diarrhea or vomiting
● A rash
● Eye discharge or pink eye - children can return 48 hours after the start of treatment.
● Exposure to a communicable disease such as: Covid, chicken pox, mumps, measles, pneumonia, persistent cough etc.
We also request parents to inform the daycare within 24 hours if the child is absent due to an illness or disease.
Parents need to fill out a consent form if they would like educators to administer and prescription or medication. Childcare Licensing Regulation requires that we follow specific procedures as follow:
● Medication must be provided in the original container and be labeled with the child’s name.
● Consent form must be completed by the parent with instructions on administering the medication in person with the educators.
● The medication will be stored in a unlocked container at upper cabinet.
● Educators will keep records of medication administered.
